ACQUISITION TO PORT.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHAKATANE, Tuesday.
The cool store which is being constructed on the wharf at Whakatane is now nearly completed, and should prove a vciy valuable asset to the port. The new building covers an area of 31ft. by 35ft., the, walls 'and ceiling being insulated with six inches of pumice. The authorities of the port will be enabled to store butter, cheese, and other perishable j*oods in the new building, and it is estimated that it is large enough to hold one week's dairy produce from this district.
