Wright described in technical detail the electrical methods of . seasoning timber. The paper dealt with experiments in which, by the application of large electrical direct voltage (about 30Gu), it hail been found possible to drive sap and moisture out of certain New Zealand timbers such as white pine, and, on the other , hand, to drive certain preserving salts j into the pores of the timber. * ' " . 1? was considered possible the method might*be a commercial success. The experiments also had an important theoretical bearing upon the method of ascent of the sap in living trees, and showed that electricity plays an important part in growth of trees.
