ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.

. . . ■ ■» ; DECISIONS OF COMMITTEE. MORE FUNDS REQUIRED. 1 The Auckland. Anniversary Regatta Committee mot last evening, Mr. J. H. Frater presiding over a good attendance. The chairman stated that the receipts from all sources so far amounted to £93, and in order to make the regatta a financial success it was most important that the members. of the committee should use '. every effort to secure more funds. The committee had applied for the use of thd schooner Tan gar as flagship, ant, «so far no reply had teen received, front .the owners. .''',"''.'. "'•*'.'- ' The question.of securing side-shows was discussed and it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman. , A programme of swimming events, was submitted by the Auckland Swimming Centre, which undertook to carry out nil ~ tho arrangements co_ne.". f : ed : with the ' races. Several additional items were sug- < gested, and it was decided to refer .; the programme back to the centre for further consideration with power to act. ' With tho idea of bringing in funds and ' at the same time creating more interest . in the regatta, it was suggested that small \ flags with " Auckland Anniversary Re- . gatta, 1923," should be sold on regatta .-, day. In England, it was.stated that this '! scheme had been in vogue for a number . of yeara, and it was surprising to see the - number of people who kept their flags - from year to year, and flew them on re- ] gatta. day. The meeting decided to take up .the scheme provided the cost was not , too great. •■!''•. 1 It . was resolved to engage . the Pon- j sonby Boys' Band on regatta day. , All arrangements in connection with the ( holding of races for model, yachts were , left in the hands'-of Mr. H. Duke, of j Mahurangi. ] . Entries for all yacht and launch races will be received at the Navy League rooms, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday.
