The latest figures are ; made as 'follows Males, 640,488 1 -females, 615,460. The births during the. '. September quarter, 1922. were:— 1 3770; females, 3546; as against 3725 and '; '3567 respectively for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Deaths in the September quarter. 1922, wero: Males, 1*828;. females;, ; 1450; compared with 1781 and 1322 in the .'same, quarter of 1921.
