PAYMENT WHEN ASHORE.
DISPUTE WITH COMMONWEALTH. A. and N.Z. ADELAIDE, Jan. 12. A meeting .of the Seamen's Union was held to discuss the question of seamen's wages when they are left ashore sick at ports outside their home ports from the Commonwealth Government steamers. It is stated,:'that while the Navigation Act provides that wages shall be paid, the Commonwealth Line has refused to do so. It wee decided by the meeting to refuse to sign on with Commonwealth Government vessels except under conditions providing for the payment of wages as suggested. : • •
