STOCKS AND SHARES.

There was no alteration in the tone of the Auckland sharemarket , yesterday, prices of the leading investment stocks being firm, -with all-round buyers in evidence. In Government ': stocks, War Loans, 1927, changed hands at. £95 ss, with further offers of same price and no late sellers. Soldiers' Loan (bonds and inscribed stock) had demand at par, but no holders were quoting. New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1927, had buyers at £96, sellers £96 15s. The 1929 issue was wanted at ; £95.; holders asking £96. For tht'i 1938 issue,buyers offered £96 15s. sellers holding for £97 10s. In local bodies' debentures, City of Auckland, 5£ per cents, were in slightly better inquiry at £94 15s; but there were no sellers. In banks, Nationals sold at £6 Bs, ... with more wanted at £6 65,, sellers £6 lis. Unions of Australia were looked for at £13 15s, and there were sellers at £14. In insurances, Nationals sold at 72s 6d, late buyers 71s 6d, and no sellers. South British had sale at 37s 6d, and more were wanted at 375, without sellers. New Zealands were in demand at 28s, sellers 28s 6d. Standards had inquiry at 33s 6d, but there were no sellers. . Other investment lines were in sustained demand at recent rates, but there were no transactions. In mining, Waihis were held a j little .firmer: at 34s 6d, buyers 335. 9d. : Grand Junctions were offered at 10s sd, buyers 10s 2d. Moanataiaria at 3s 9d were wanted at 3s 2d.
