CARNIVALS IN AUCKLAND. ALTERATION IN DATES. The Auckland centre of the Now Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is arranging sports carnivals for, February 3, 24, and March 3. _ It was originally arranged that the; American athletes should compete in Auokland on February 3 and 24, but Mr. W. Morton, hon. secretary of the centre, received a letter yesterday from the New Zealand Council stating that the visitors had expressed a desire to competo in Dunedin, and that the council would like to meet their wishes in the matter if possible. The only way the proposed visit to Dunedin might be accomplished was by putting back the, dates already allotted to Wellington. Cambridge, and the second visit to Auckland. The 'Wellington centre haß already expressed its willingness to have its second meeting on February 24 instead of February 17, A special meeting of the Auckland centre is being called to consider the position, but it is practically certain that the second appearance of the Americans in Auckland will be on March 3, and that the provincial amateur championships will be decided on February 24. An interesting programme hoe been drafted for, the carnival on February 3, by the Auckland centre, in connection with, the visit of the Americans.
