PAIRS COMPETITION BEGUN.

THREE ROUNDS PLAYED.

The Dominion "Bowling Association's tenth annual tournament was continued yesterday, • when the first three of the five rounds of the pairs competition were played. Tim West End, Mount Eden, Dominion Road, Grey Lynn, Remuera, Epsom, Onehunga, Rawhiti, Devonport, Mount Albert, Carlton, Ponsonby and Auckland greens were utilised for the various sections. Two hundred pairs are engaged, and on ail the greens, with the exception of Auckland, there are two sub-sections. The weather was fine, and all the greens wero in good order. Several interesting games were played. The fourth and fifth rounds will ba played on the respective greens to-day, commencing at 9 a.m. Section ties are to be played off at the conclusion of section play. If there are only two ties the game will bo of 21 heads, but if more than two the games will be of 12 heads. In the event of a bye the green umpire will arrange the draw. Post-sectional piny will be on the "sudden death" system, each game to consist of 21 heads. The "blue riband" of tho tournament, the rinks competition, opens on Monday, commencing "at 9.15 ' a.m. In all 144 teams, will take part. Two games of 25 heads will be played each day for four days.
