EXHIBITION AT TORONTO.

.-■;.. -V -;'■■' .' '•;;■..: DOMINION PARTICIPATION. DISCUSSION OF QUESTION: [BY TELEGRAPH'. CORRESPONDENT,,] CHEISTCHURCH. Thursday. j The president of the New Zealand Industrial Corporation, Mr. W. J. Jenkira, has had an interesting conversation with Mr. J. P. Murray, of Toronto, an associate director of the National Canadian Exhibition. Mr. ■ Murray brought under Mr. Jenkin'a notice • the desirability, of New Zealand being represented at the Canadian Exhibition, which vis- to bo; held in Toronto in August and September of this year. . Mr. Jenkin asked what advantage New Zealand manufacturers would gain by sending their surplus goods as far away, particularly as they \ were discussing the Near East,, market. '.. .;! ';■ - '■■','.'''•' Mr. Murray said New Zealand unfortunately was little known in Canada and in some . other parts of ■ the world. People were surprised when they came to New j Zealand and .saw what the country .was I doing and how beautiful it was;';; If ; Now Zealand were represented at the exhibition it would attract more visitors. Swit-j zerland paid her national debt through! her tourist traffic. New .;■; Zealand could do a great deal in the same direction. t A sum of £20,000 would be sufficient for a representative exhibit at Toronto. Mr. Jenkin said the Government' and the manufacturers had decided to make a large display at the British Exhibition in London in 1924. The industrial corporation had arranged for an industrial exhibition yearly in the principal centres of the Dominion. He hardly thought that manufacturers would see their way to send goods to the Canadian Exhibition as well. _ Mr. Murray said that a permanent display of photograph! and pictures representing New Zealand's unrivalled scenery might be made to give Canadians some idea . of.. what they could see in New Zealand. ' ■ . , ■"■'. Mr. Jenkin said he was in hearty accord with that proposal, as New Zealand needed immigrants, and scenic views should help to attract them. He promised to nlace all Mr. Murray's suggestions before ' the executive of the Industrial Corporation, which will meet in Christchurch, and to .suggest that _it should approach the Department of Industries and Commerce with a * view to inducing the Government and, the corporation to co-operate in a scheme.
