ENFORCING PROHIBITION.
£1,000,009 IN FINES SINCE 1921. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Jan. 9. Tho Department of Justice has announced that violators of the prohibition laws brought into the Federal Courts ' since July, 1921, were fined 5,000.000 ' dollars. The sentences aggregated 2000 years in gaol. The interesting fact is pointed out that ' those States which had local prohibition before national prohibition came into force have the fewest number of pending cases.
