I THREATENiiNG BEHAVIOUR. ■ I '] FOUR OFFENDERS FINED. ! I Two men, Charles W. Jone3 and - ] Thomas McMulten, appeared in the Police '■ | Court yesterday before Mr. J. W. PoynI ton,., S.M., charged with having used ' threatening behaviour on Tuesday when . in the bar of an hotel. They were furi ther charged with having caused wilful i damage by breaking a pane of glass, valued at £2. It was stated that the men ' were fighting in the bar. The defendants i were fined 20s each, and ordered to pay • for the damage. _ 1 A fine of £2 was inflicted upon John ■ Butler and Edward Burke, accused of 1 threatening behaviour in another hotel. PUNISHED FOR INDECENCY". '!, Charged , with having been drunk in : i Grey Street, and. having committed an indecent act, Timothy Connelly was convicted and discharged on the first count, and fined £3, or. seven days' imprisonment, for indecency. DANGEROUS DRIVING. Driving a motor at the rate of 40 miles an hour in Karanpahape Road at 11.30 p.m., without lights, was the charge against Ernest Housby. According to the evidence the accused shot across the ends of Pitt Street and Queen Street, failing to sound his horn. There was not much traffic about at the time. For this little ! burst of speed accused was fined £b and • costs. ' ■ '•■';•;' i NIUE ISLANDER'S TROUBLE. An old Niue Islander, James Mon- ! tague, was assisted into the dock, charged I, with, attempted suicide. The poor old '■! islander," looking very depressed and ill, 1 was given a chair. A few minutes later 1 he! was remanded, and the police carefully helped him from the dock and .took ' charge of him. , '• ALLEGED THEFT OF CLOTH. ' ' i" Three charges of theft of lengths of suitings were preferred against, Edward . i Putlsnd (Mr. A. Moody). Accused, who is i I alleged to have stolen the cloth from. H.
