NONAGENARIAN'S DEATH.
COLONIST FOR 60 YEARS.

Mr. Arthur Wright, an old* and highlyesteemed resident of Auckland, "who has been identified with the city and its growing interests for upwards of 60 years, died yesterday in his 91st year. Mr. Wright, who' was-a native of Hammersmith, London, was educated at Dr. Nicholas' academy in Ealing, and subsequently served his apprenticeship in the tailoring trade at Tunbridge Wells. He afterwards was in the employment of Mr.- Poole, ,- the well-known London jailor. Mr. Wright came to Auckland in the ship Norma Hill in November, 1858, and at once established a tailoring business that he continued until about 1910. For several years he was president of the Auckland Master Tailors Union. Mr. Wright was a. prominent Freemason, having been initiated on February 1, 1875, in the Ara Lodge, 348, 1.C., of which he afterwards became pastmasfcer. Subsequently he joined the Waitemata Lodge, 689, E.C., adid became senior district grand warden. He also took a leading part in- the development of the Thames goldfield, being ftt one time or another associated with 60 or 70 compßfoies, of many of which he was a direcor. For several years he was .a member of the " Paraell Borough' Council. Ho , was a familiar figure on bowling green, having been a member of the Auckland and Carlton Clubs, and at one time president of the latter club. Mr. Wright' who had been a widower for some years, leaves two daughters,. Mrs. T. Isemonger and Mrs. E. Siddall, both of, Auckland. The funeral, which will- be conducted with Masonic honours, will take place at. Pure. to-morrow afternoon.
