RUGBY LEAGUE TOUR.
ENGLISH CLUBS' OPPOSITION. A. and N.Z. ;„':■! , -LONDON, Jan. 8. The Athle.tio News is surprised to find a strong feeling against the sending of a Rugby League team to Australia. 'The opinion in many circles says the paper, "is that the council should not decide the matter without . consulting the clubs, which contend that they ; should participate in the profits of the tour.. Opponents of the tour advance as another reason that invariably the players making the trip leave a big percentage of their ability in Sydney and do not recover their skill for a long period, while in-the meantime the clubj for which they play are unduly penalised for allowing them to make the trip. On the other hand, if the League desires to maintain' an intimate connection with the unions of Australia and New Zealand, an interchange of visits is essential. Thß first consideration should . be the good of; the game as* a whole." ■■".
