The trial of Angela Laval, accused of writing obscene letters, under the names of " The Demon of Calumny," and " The Tiger's Eye," was enlivened by the evidence of a police official named Moury, state 3 a message frojn Paris. The accused was his assistant. There was somo love-making between them, and Angelo offered to marry him, talking of a dowry of 60,000 francs. Moury, who married another assistant, suggested that Laval was jealous and disappointed, and commenced letter-writing in consequence.
