THE WAITEMATA ELECTION.

Sir,—My attention has been drawn to statements made m a pamrhlet by Mr. Way in connection with the recent election. He q-otes me as having made the following statement when clrdrm~n at his meeting at N,-xthc to: "I think it- is my duty as an impartial man to announce to this meeting that everything Mr. Way has stated in connection with the Hans-rd record, of Mr. Harris' votes against the p-o; osed restrictions on Asiatic immigration is absolutely true." Apparently Mr. Way very seriously misunderstood p*e in connection with this matter, as neither the wording of the ab ve paragraph nor the meaning conveyed correspond with anything said by me. All I did was to confirm Mr. Way's statement hat Mr. Harris' votes against two amendments were recorded in the copy of Hansard as shown to me, and I distinctly disclaimed any intention of taking part in the controversy in any other way. Trusting you will, iii fairness U-> Mr. Harris, iriv3 publicity to this correction
