CHARGED WITH ASSAULT.
THE WATERFRONT INCIDENT. THREE YOUNG MEN KEM'ANDED. As the result of an affair on the waterfront on Monday, three young men, William Patrick Lawson, aged 23, William Francis Newbert, aged 24, and Edward Ernest Green, were charged in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. J. E. Wil son, S.M., with having assaulted James Williamson by kicking him in the face so as to cause him actual bodily harm. On : the application of *Senior-Detective Cummings, a remand was granted till Mopday. Accused asked for bail. Senior-Detective Cummings : I ask that bail be .very;, substantial. Your Worship. This is the case in which the captain of a ship was knocked about. I nave a doctor's certificate regarding the injuries. Bail was fixed at £100 in each case, accused to report daily to the police.
