SCARCITY OF HOUSES.
RENTS FOR SINGLE ROOMS. [BT ■ TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday.
Mr. Justice Frazer stated in the Arbitration Court that the outstanding feature of the latest statistics was a drop in tho food! groups to the 1918 figures. He thought there would be a continued fall for the next six months. Other items were not coming down, and rents were rising, dne not to the cost of houses, but the scarcity.. Subsequently, in discussing the matter with the workers' representative's, Judge Frazer said he would like mora figures relating to board, which were difficult to get. Some of the rents charged for single rooms were a scandal and a "regular swindle " in some cases.
