Sir,—May I reply to- a letter signed 1 Harold Schmidt in your issue of the. 27tk inst, Mr, Schmidt snrely has some peculiar ideas and one oouid criticise hit letter at length. So sugge&n as an alternative that it should be placed in special trucks on the railways for disposal elsewhere. How does he propone to get the garbage to the trucks on the rail? By wireless? Or does he think that residents in the vicinity of the railway (who, for argument's sake know nothing about destructors), will accept, ! without protest, bin "salubrious chariots? 1 ' j Again—this in the interest «f health, mark yoa—Mr. Schmidt says use the garbage as filling wherever bridges are needed—till up the bridgeless valleyß and the road will follow!
