STOCKS AND SHARES.

The tone of the Auckland sharemarket was unaltered on Saturday, though little busin-7ss was transacted. There was again firm demand for Government stocks, but holders in most lines showed little disposition to sell. In banks New Zealands, wanted at 56s 9d, had eellers at 57a 3d. Australasias were inquired for at £12 18s, no sellers offering. In insurances buyers of New Zealands offered 27a 3d, sellers 28s. Business was done in South British at 35s 6d, other buyers offering 35s 3d, sellers 35s 9d. Miscellaneous lines remained practically unaltered: In mining offers were made for Moanataiaris at 3s 4d, sellers holding for 3s Bd. Muir's Reefs, quoted at 30s 6d, had buyers at 295. Vvaihis sold at 30s 6d, other buyers offering the same figure, sellers 31s. Grand Junctions, inquired for at 8s sd, had sellers at 9s. The following sales took place; — South British, 35s 6d; Waihi, 30s 6d.
