ASSAULT IH HOTEL BAR. : FINE OF £5 IMPOSED, : A holiday sitting of the Police Court • was held before Messrs. E. Gk Twohill • : and J. H. FTay, J.P.'s,yesterday, whoa; ■ rdnrar cases were with. :'; '. •. As a result of a disturbance jin an hotel , bar on Saturday, James Charles Lee, aged 24, was charged . with having assaulted ■/ Horace Richard Neal. The! complainant,i;*. who appeared in Court with his eye heavily bandaged, ' alleged that, accused.struck him without provocation. Accused \ said that Neal, who, struck him firsts .was* 1 knocked down by someone else. Mr. Two- . [hill said that" accused was very unruly 'when he was in liquor, and went round the hotels "seeking'whom he might devour." A fin© of £5 was imposed; in default 14 days' imprisonment, £2 of tho fine to be given to Neal.
• DAMAGE TO SPECTACLES. »A charge of having wilfully damaged a i pair of spectacles was preferred against , Frank Harrington, aged 39 (Mr. Dickson). The owner of the glasses said he was . standing in an hotel doorway when accused knocked his glasses off, causing . them to break. Accused was convicted i and ordered to pay the cost of the glasses, 355. On a charge of having used obscene ■ language be was fined 20s. i FIGHT IN THE STREET. . Two men, Joseph Dolan, aged 41, and! George Roland Feek, aged 46, were ' charged with having used threatening ber ; haviour in Victoria Street, whereby a \ = breach of the peace was occasioned. Accused, who described the affair as » "beery fight," were convicted and dis- '. charged. ~ >
