FURTHER AMENDMENTS. [U7 TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday. Some amendments to the Land Laws Bill were introduced in the House of Representatives to-day and incorporated in the Bill without debate. They were generally of small importance. The provision in the Bill for the revaluation of small grazing runs is made to apply to j leases granted in renewal of leases that ! expired before the passing of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1921-22, and not earlier than February 28, 1919. The clause of the Act of last session relating to the acquisition of the freehold of pastoral lands is amended to provide that the price shall be such amount as may be determined by the Land Board with the approval of the Minister. This ! provision is to apply also to the acI quisition of the freehold of national endowment land held as pastoral land under section 11 of the Act of 1921-22. A new clause gives the Minister discretionary power in the enforcement of the restriction on the acquisition of settlement land under the Land Act of 1912. The provision is that the Act of "<v?l-/>2 for the temporary extension of the leases of small grazing runs is made | to apply to leases expiring not later than March 1. 1927. The Bill provides that the expenses of administration of the Cheviot estate shall be recouped to the Consolidated Fund from the Cheviot estate account.
