BOWLING.
HAMILTON SEASON, OPENED. The official openins of the - Whiiiora Bowline and Croquet Club. Hamilton, .took place on Saturday afternoon. The president of the bowling club. Mr. B. C. Lowry, in declaring th« bowling greens open for the season, mentioned that a number of valuable prizes had been offered for .competition during the season, and expressed the hope that all members would spend many enjoyabln afternoons on the greens. Amid .applause. Mrs. Lowry then* bowled the first jack, and the members commenced the initial games with great enthusiasm. The crochet lawns were declared open by Mrs. Jenk : ns, president of the club, and the Mayoress, Mrs. J. R- Fow. then made the first hoop. During the repast the president of the bowline club unveiled the record shield presented by Mr., I>. McGregor for the pairs competition.. The shield is of historic interest, consisting in the mam of puriri from the old Waikato Bridge.
