A League match between Waikato and Australia was played at Steele Park to-day. The following allocations were made from the proceeds of the Charity Cup match: — Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund, £20; Sister Esther, .£l3 6s 6d Sister Hannah, Manurewa Orphans' • Home. At the request of the executive of the primary schools it was decided to again present tbo schools with framed enlarged photographs of the winning teams. The uncompleted rounds of the seven-a-side tournament, started some weeks ago at Eden Park, will be played at Avondale on Saturday in connection with the primary sohool gala. PRIMARY SCHOOLS' GALA. The fifth annual Primary Schools' Rugby Union football gala will be held at Avondale racecourse on Saturday, when a veritable football feast will be provided for all interested in school football. The first gala was held in 1916. when the Auckland Rugby Relerees' Association, in order to make easter the task of controlling the games of over 500 primary flchools' footballers inaugurated a scheme for raising funds to provide each competing echool with a set of jerseys. In conjunction with tho primary schools' delegates the association held a football gala tnat year at h.den Park and at the Dotnawi in 1917, 1918. and 1921. Those efforts proved so successful that last year the association was able to purchase 35 sets of jerseys at a cost of £300, the result being that everv school team now turns out in its own distinctive uniform. A balance of £45 is still .vvinor on the i»rseys—a debt which the association is confident of liquidating this year. In addition the association haa expended nearly £100 in financing trips of school representatives to various centres. No fewer than 96 eeven-a-side teams have entered for the competitions, besides 27 relay teams and 37 drop-kick competitions. In addition the finals. of the Auckland Rugby Union seven-a-side competition will "be played on the same ground during the afternoon.
