CARPENTIER APPEALS.
CINEMATOGRAPH EVIDENCE. TRIPPED BY BATTLING SIKI. • ■< United Service. PARIS, Sept. 26. Carpentier has formally appealed against the verdict in his fight with Battling Siki. The Daily Mail states that Battling Siki fouled Carpentier. and the disqualification verdict of the referee was correct. This is the considered judgment of a specialist who viewed a slow motion film of the fight nine separate times. He declares that it shows that the Frenchman was absolutely beaten and on the verge of collapse. Retreating, he made a complete circuit of tho ling, when Siki, following, lifted his left leg and struck Carpentier's left leg with it. Carpentier sank instantly, and just before his knees touched the boards Siki struck him heavily on the back of the neck. He adds that the blow was fair, bat the trip was distinctly nnfair.' M. Breyer, the principal judge, admit* the probability of a foul, but asserts that under boxing rules a foul may sometimes be permitted if the sufferer is a, defeated man. The referee, M. Bernstein, admits that he did not consult the judges before disqualifying Siki.
