SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS.
-o. AUCKLAND BRANCH AFFAIRS. The annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants was held last evening, Mr. A. M. Seaman presiding. The annual report showed that at June j 30 the membership was 422, an increase j of one for the year. Of this number 286 were registered accountants and 136 in public practice. Good work was being accomplished by the accountants' student societies in Auckland ai:d Hamilton. It was mentioned that a grant of £350 had recently been made by the society for improving its branch libraries. A report of the business transacted at the recent annual meeting of the society at Wellington was furnished by Mr. G. W. Hutchison. A suggestion that the society establish an employment bureau was referred to the local committee for consideration. The following were elected members of the local committee :—Me»;rs. G. W. Hutchison, G. C. Gorrie, I. Esam, A. M. Seaman, H. C. Tewsley, J. A. Gentles, P. J. Dawson. At a subsequent meeting Mr, J. A. Gentles was ejected chairman of the branch, and Mr. J. M. EHife was reappointed local secretary.
