ROGUE ANN VAGABOND.
TWO MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT. . A sentence of iwo months' inipiisonment was imposed l>y Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday on i Ernest Hxlward Cox, aged 69, who was charged with being a rogue and vagabond. Accused was found by night without lawful excuse in the premises of Winstone, Ltd., Nelson Street. Senior-Sergeant Bawle said inquiries regarding accused's brother had been made. The brother was willing to help accused if he could, but he was a married man and at present out of work. MISCELLANEOUS CASES.
A charge of being an idle and disorderly person was made against Mary Mattison, aged 55. The evidence showed that accused was found during the night in Wyndham Street, but she was unable to say where her home was.' She had heea before the Court on 11 previous occasions. She was convicted and discharged. A-similar charge was preferred against Wilfred Meaney, aged 29. Senior-Sergeant Itavrlo said that accused, who seemed to ~ be of weak mentality, had becnundej.* police observation for about three weeks. He was remanded for a week. Susan May Curtis, aged 33, was convicted and discharged for attempted suicide. Adjutant Gordon said she would be prepared to take charge of the woman.
TWO CASES REMANDEp,
A series of breaking and entering and theft - charges were preferwsd againsft Tukarawa Pomare, aged 38. It was alleged that accused broke into three dwelling places at Auckland and stole clothing, blankets, foodstuffs, three bottles ... of whisky, and miscellaneous articles to a value of £10 15s. There was a further charge of a fourth- dwellingplace, footwear, valued at £4 15s. Accused was remanded till Monday. A charge of having assaulted a taxidriver, George Goodman,' was made in a private information against Warren Oliver. Accused was further charged with haying _ wilfully damaged Goodman's motor-car. The case was adjourned till next Wednesday, bail being fired at £25.
