SMALL AUSTRALIAN CARGOES Shipments of goods from Germany are now arriving in Sydney almost daily, but quantities are not large by any means, and there dooe not appeal* as yet to be any signs of a great increase in traffic between Hamburg and Australian porta in. purely German goods. Movements in exchange, which, under ordinary circumstances, would have favoured extensive buying by ioreign merchants in Germany, have been followed sedulously by proportionate increases in customs' duties, 50 that there has been no great inducement to trade with Germany.
