AUCKLAND ORPHANS' CLUB.
FORTNIGHTLY GATHERING. The fortnightly gathering of the Auckland Orphans' Club, held in the Scots Hall, on Saturday evening, was largely attended. The vice-president, the Hon. George Fowlds, presided. The orchestral items A under the baton of Mr. G. F. Cater, Were well rendered, and consisted of the overture, " Mirella, " (Gounod), and the selections, ** Mancla " (Eilenberg), and " Hands Acroee the Sea" (Sousa). The programme, which was greatly enjoyed, included songs by Messrs. R. Wilson, H. Tanswell, E. Churchouse, E. A. Jackson, H. Sharkey; humorous songs by Messrs. R. IL Wiikie, and D. Flood; and vocal items by the Imperial Quartette (Messrs. E Sutherland, A. Gow, R. Sutherland, and D. Black). The accompanists were Messrs. Cyril Towsey and L. Elliott. The president, Professor Maxwell Walker, stated that the Hamilton Club desired a return visit, and that the Auckland Orphans' orchestra, should also make the trip on that occasion.
