FAST WAIKATO EXPRESS.
SUGGESTION REJECTED.
EXPENSE NOT WARRANTED. ClI lILEGRAPH. —SPECLIL REPORTER.! WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The Minister for Railways, Hon. D. H. Guthrie, stated in the House to-day in answer to Mr. J. A. Young (Waikato), ihat the matter of running a fast daily morning train from either Hamilton or Frankton to Auckland had been engaging attention, but the circumstances were not favourable io such a project at the present time. Tha traffic was insufficient. to pay the cost of running a train, and the requirements of the district beyond Hamilton and Frankton Junction in the matter of connections must be given consideration. No additions could be made to the service while the present financial stringency continued.
