" Representations have been made to me by exporters of butter and cheese that the handling of their produce on the chips is not satisfactory," said Mr. 0. J". Hawken (Egmont) in the House of Representatives. " They tell me that last season the" butter and cheese were put on board the boats in better condition than ever before in the history of tho industry, but the produce suffered considerable damage beforo it reached the buyers in Britain, and many claims had to be paid." The member added that the claims showed that the circulation of air in the holds of some of the ships was not satisfactory. Some of the produce was frozen ton hard. Would the Prime Minister see what representations could be made to the shipping companies? Mr. Massey promised to make inquiries. He said he realised the importance of getting the produce to Britain in the beat possible condition. x
