WRECK OF BATTLESHIP.
ONLY THREE LIVES LOST.
NEARLY 900 SAVED.
LONI>ON. Aug. 26.
Further arrivals of survivors from the wrecked battleship France, says a Paris message, reduce the number of those missing to three. The vessel sank in 70ft. of water, and it is not likely that she can be raised.
A message from Brest states that the warship was unable to manoeuvre after striking a rock or submerged wreckage, owing to a deep rent through which the water flowed in and extinguished the engine-room fires. From 4 a.m. she lay on her side washed by the waves, with 900 aboard.
