OBITUARY.
MR, GEORGE R. SIMS. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Sopt. 5. The death occurred to-day of Mr. George B. Sims, the noted writer.
Mr. George Robert Sims, who was 75 years of age, was a noted journalist and dramatic author. He was educated at Hanwell College and Bonn, and commenced journabsm in 1874 as successor to Tom Hood on Fun. His first play, "Crutch and Toothpick,'* was produced in 1879, and was followed by a number of plays, of which he was author or part author. Manv have become well-known stock pieces, "including "The Lights of London," and " Two Little Vagabonds.' Among his musical plays were " Blueeyed Susan," and "The Dandy Fifth/' "' How the Poor Live,", published in 1885, and his articles on the housing of the poor, in the Daily News, helped to arouse public opinion on the subject, which was deal- with in the Act of 1885.
