GREAT SOUTH BOAR
RECONSTRUCTION SCHEME.
ACCEPTANCE OP TENDER.
Another stage in the concrete reading scheme of One Tree Hill Road Board has been reached. The board has instructed its engineer, Mr. Dawson, to accept the tender of Messrs. Bray and Co. for the reconstruction of that portion of the Great South Road between Heald Road, .near Market Road, and the Harp of Erin, and the permanent paving of the same in concrete. The. length of the section is 76 chains and the contract price is £18,895. The first portion of this work in the Great South Road—from Manukau Road to Heald Road —will be carried out by the City Council, this section being also 76 chains in length. When both sections are completed, in about nine months' time, there will be a continuous concrete roadway from Manukau Road to the Harp of Erin, as well &s from Parnell to Onehunga. The One Tree Hill Board's contract includes the cutting down of Farmer's Hill, the greatest depth being about 4ft. 6in.
