ANOTHER AIR CRASH.
DISASTER NEAR STRASBOURG Four British passengers were numbered among the five victims of the recent disaster to the Strasbourg-Paris aeroplane. A policeman who witnessed the accident said when he first caught sight of the machine it was flying very low. at an altitude of somewhere abbut 180 ft. The engine was working very slowly, and the pilot appeared to be looking for a landing place. The policeman declared the aeroplane suddenly appeared to side-slip, in consequence of the lack of speed and then crashed to earth. - Several residents of Strasbourg noticed* that the machine was flying very low, and that the motor was missing badly. When, nearing Saverne the machine was apparently still unable to rise, "and when immediately above the ravine which overlooks the ruins of the old castle of Hohbarr, it was caught in a violent eddy, which still further increased its difficulties.
It was quite evident to the anxious watchers below that it was only with the greatest difficulty that the pilot succeeded in righting his machine. In thi'fc lame condition the pilot succeeded in arriving over the entrance to the ravine of Hohbarr, and when immediately abreast of the tower which commands the entrance to the gorge he apparently attempted to turn the machine round, doubtless with the object of returning to Strasbourg to effect repairs, when suddenly the machine side-slipped and crashed to earth. Buried under tho debris the bodies of the pilot and the four passengers were dicovered in a terribly mutilated condition, death having evidently been instantaneous.
