THE SEAMEN'S DISPUTE.

AUSTRALIAN ADVISERS. The sitting of the Arbitration Court in Wellington on Thursday was remarkable in more respccts than one, for, besides being the first occasion, that the seamen have appwed before the Court for 14 years, it was the first time that representatives of an Australian industry had appeared in tha New Zealand Court of Arbitration. On Wednesday by the tJlimaroa there arrived Messrs. T. Eleming (secretary of the New South Wales Federated Seamen's Union) and C. Burke (secretary of the Queensland federated Seamen's Union). When the Arbitration Court commenced the Wellington hearing yesterday ©f the dispate created by the coastal owners' citation of the New Zealand Union, claiming a reduction in the wages rate, Mr. T. Young, _ the general secretary, introduced the visitors, who, he fittid, were thens in. the capacity of advisers to the union's agents. "Although this is the first time we have been in your Court, the principle has already been conceded in the Australian Court." said Mr. Fleming, who is a New Zealander, when questioned on the point. " There is one union, tlip Federated Seamen's Union of Australia and New Zealand, and the New Zealand body is affiliated with it. Mr. Young, your general secretary, S was present in a similar capacity when our case was heard in the Federal Arbitration Court." It is understood that the Australian delegates may give evidence, if required, in regard to conditions ruling on* the Australian coast. <
