TE AROHA AFFAIRS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA. Saturday.

Eight more applications by holders of business and residence site licenses under the mining tenure for conversion to the freehold are to come before the warden, Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., at Wednesday's sitting of the Court at Te Aroha. , The second community sing-song in Te Aroha was again a huge success, the Theatre Royal being packet! to the doors. There was a unanimous vote in favour of a third gathering a fortnight hence. The collection amounted to £25 12s 6d, and this will be devoted to giving employment to returned soldiers and fathers who are temporarily out of work. The collection on the next occasion will go to the Plunket Socicty and Benevolent Society. The recent rains have proved very beneficial to dairying lands in this district, and farmers are looking forward with more equanimity to the coming season. Stock is rejxirted to bo in good condition for this time of the year, tyulto a number of young lambs are to be seen in thr surrounding districts, and though it is yet too early to arrive at an estimate of the percentages, it seems certain that the results will be good.
