The representative of the sheepowners, Mr. Nicholson stated at the Arbitration ' Court to-day that the conference held at J Napier between the Sheepowners' As- . sociation and the Shearers' Union proved • abortive. The' shearers took, the attitude that they were not prepared to accept less than last year's rates. Mr. Nicholson asked the Court to fix an early date for hearing the dispute at Wellington and the Court tentatively fixed September 12.
