ASSAULT ON TEACHER.
-~ —,—_ . AN APOLOGY ACCEPTED. An unprovoked assault by a parent" o : 'i the teacher of the Mangamahoe school {Mr. S. G. Pye) was the subject of a ra ' , port to the Wellington Education Board by its executive tins'-week. The reportstated that legal action had been decided m upon, but Mr. Pye had magnanimously accepted the assailant's offer to publish an'' apology..-and' pay the expenses that . had arisen; In the circumstances the legal action was discontinued. The majority of the parents of .children attending the school had forwarded a testimony to the worth of Mr. Pye. The executive pointed out that such unlawful actioias should be repressed by the board with a" th» powers conferred on it by tho law.
