The Borough Council last night considered three tenaers for the construction of an intake and pipe line in the hydroelectric system. Tenders ranged from £14,897 to £32,880. and the engineer's estimate was only £10,217. The council decided to carry put the work by day labour under the supervision of the engineer. The work will be commenced at once, and tenders for other portions of the works will be called for as required. It is expected that the works will be completed within twelve months.
