MANUKA FOE SYDNEY. The inter-colonial steamer Manuka sailed for Sydney yesterday carrying 90 saloon and 83 steerage, passengers, together with mails and general cargo. She is du© at Sycmej on Monday.

WESTMORELAND'S ITINERARY. The ete&mer Westmoreland commenced loading at Dunedin on Tuesday under the auspices of the Federal Line. She should leave that port to-day for Lyttelton, Napier, Gisborne, and Wellington. The vessel .is duo at Wellington on August 31. and will sail on September 2 for London. Avonmouth, Liverpool, Manchester, and Glasgow, via Monte Video. THE ATHENIC IN PORT. " "j The Shaw, Savill and. Albion steamer i Altaic arrived from Wellington yesterday, ! en rente from England, and berthed at the ' Qceeo's Wharf to discharge cargo from London. After putting out the Auckland portion of her cargo the steamer will load a large Quwtity of butter, frozsn meat, and general orgo for London. She trill probably get way on Thursday for Lyttelton end Port Chalmers tc continue discharging and.loading. She -will subsequently load at Timaxu and Wellington, where she is due back on September 12. THE TUTANEKAL The Government steamer Tutanekai, now at Wellington, signed on ber full complement of nine firemen and ten deck hands on Tuesday. These men ere now permanent employees of the Goverment under the new scheme. The vessel was to sail yesterday for Cook Strait lighthouses. She will ce abiient for four or five days, and, on returning to Wellington, will sail on her periodical round-trip to the North Island lighthouses.

THE WHAKATANE FROM LIVERPOOL. The New Zealand Shipping Company's ateamer Whakatane. 7055 tons. Captain Burton Davies. arrived from Liverpool yesterday morning and berthed at .the Queens Wharf to discharge a large inward cargo. She left Liverpool on June 24 and had an uneventful voyage, via Panama. She called at Pitcairn Island on the night of July 81 and landed one bag of mail and took in two from the inlanders. Included in her cargo are 1500 boxes of tin plates, 700 cases of galvanised wire, 1000 sacks of cornflour, 400 cases of whisky, 1000 bundles of steel bars, 800 cases of window glass, -10 cases of plate glass. 610 kegs of bicarbonate of soda, 420 coils of wire. 720 reels of barbed wire, 1000 bars, of iron, and various sundries, including Paints, oils, and nails. The Whakatane is expected to sail early next week for Wellington, thence to Dunedin and Nelson to continue discharge. Afterwards she will load for England at Napier, Timaru. Lyttelton. and Wellington, sailing from the latter port •bout September 22 for London.
