ADJUDICATED BANKRUPT.
AN ACCOUNTANT'S AFFAIRS. A petition to have Ewuglas Stuart Wylie, accountant, Auckland (Mr- R. P. Hunt), declared a bankrupt, wa*he«rd in I the Supreme Court yesterday before 'Mr. Justice Stringer. , The -grounds'of .the petition were that Wylie left New Zealand with intent to ' delay his creditors in securing payment of i moneyo due to them by him. The defence was that Wylie had gone ' abroad for health reasons, and that it was not his intention to delay payments. Counsel also urged that Wyhe's asset* it Auckland were equal to mating ail hii liabilities, and therefore •there was nc justification for the petition. Respondent had made certain provision for-his wif« prior to leaving Hew Zealand. Counsel said be had received' a power of attornej from his client,, and he was prepared tc take steps to realise on the estate, paj the amount owing to creditors, and bam over the balance to Mrs., Wylie. Hi» Honor said- the law was perfectly clear. If it was necessary for the respon dent to go away he should have put hi affairs in order. He had no alternative but to adjudicate him bankrupt, witl costs on the petition to the petitioners.
