PRESENTATION TO MAYOR.
TRIBUTE BY YACHTSMEN. A warm tribute to ,the assistance and support given by the Mayor, Mr.- J. H. Gunson, was paid by Mr. T. L. Thompson, commodore, at the Victoria Cruising Club's annual meeting last evening, when presenting to Mr. Gunson an enlarged S holograph of the Ulterior of the Town [all on the occasion of the club's prizegiving ceremony in June, as a token of the club's appreciation of Mr. Gunson's keen interest and support. The photograph showed the grand organ in the. centre and the Iron Duke and Desert Gold flanking the platform. Mr. Thompson said the club and aquatics had a staunch friend in Mr. Gunson in ways too numerous to mention. Nine years ago, when the club had uothing, it was owing to the help and energy of Mr. Gunson, then chairman of the Harbour Board, that it secured its present site. Mr. Thompson paid a tribute to Mr. Gunson's public services in many activities.
