BRIDGE AT KINGSLAND.

The urgent i>eed for the early construction of the Kinjreland railway bridge was brought under the notice of the Minister for Railways this afternoon by Mr. V, H. Potter (Roskill). who said this bridge effected an area already congested,, and until it was built a great many people would not be able to have tramway facihThe Hon. D. H. Guthrie said this matter had not been neglected by the department, and they recognised that it was one of great importance to the residents over a wide area. However, the bridge was not essential to the department, and the local bodies concerned would have to do a little more than they had shown themselves willing to do. They had offered to contribute £3000 toward the cost of the structure, but from the point of view of the department this was quite inadequate. The general manager was going North in a few days, and the proposed bridge was one of the matters which would receive his attention. A good deal would depend on his report. If the local bodies would come fdfwatd.in a reasonable Bpirit, and say they would bear a fair proportion of the cost, the department would be prepared to consider the proposal again.
