PRODUCERS CONFER*
SUPPLIES FOR BA&EKS. Poultry producers, representative, of the North Island, met at Wellington Jast week to discuss the price of eggs,, and the question of guaranteeing >akers * supply for the winter.' Mr, J> B. Mexrett, secretary of the New Zealand Poultry Association, occupied the chair,: The opinion was expressed that there was a good supply of eggs in the country, not only sufficient for bakers and>the public, but also a surplus for.export It was stated that in ths South Island a price had been fixad for bakers that had met their aoproval, and the bakers would book, orders freely, thus absorbing the surplus summer output, ; •.-.--..• After discussion, it was decided. to> fix the Wellington prices at the cam*.figures as the prices, in the South. B;,was. decided not to export any eggs until bakers' ,orders were guaranteed. T)fae price,;for eggs for bakers would be below ths price for imported eggs, and would be. fixed at a minimum of Is 3d per dozen. Every, endeavour would be maoia to guarantee each r baker his. winter supply, so that New Zealand would have no necessity to im-. port eggs. The matter is to be further considered this, week.
