THE SANDERS CUP.
CONDITIONS OF THE RACE.
PREVIOUS DECISION UPHELD
The question of the 14ft. one-design class of yachts competing for the Sanders Memorial Cup next year was discussed by the Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association last evening, when it was decided to adhere to the plans and specifications adopted last April. The cash man, Mr. A. E. Gifford, presided.
After a long discussion, Mr. W. Wilkinson moved that the Otago Yacht and Motor-boat Association's challenge be accepted with the exception of the clause requesting the calling of a conference, during the visit of the Southern yachtsmen next year, for the purpose of adopting the design and measurement of the future strictly one-design boat. Mr. E. J. Kelly moved as an amendment that the provincial associations be invited to-a conference in Wellington to discuss the whole question with the exception of any suggestions for the alteration of the design. Ho emphasised the need of bringing all parties together with the object of reaching an amicable settlement of the question in dispute between Auckland and the Southern centres. The amendment was lost. The motion was lost on the chairman's casting vote. The chairman then moved that the plans and specifications for the class adopted in April be adhered to, and this was carried bv 8 votes to 3. The effect of the resolution is to reject the conditions desired by the Otago Yacht and Motor-boat Association to govern its challenge for the cup.
