COUNTY AND BOROUGH.
COMPLAINTS ABOUT WATER. [BX TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Saturday. At a meeting of the Thames Borough Council a letter was received from the Thames county clerk complaining that on several recent occasions tho borough electrical engineer reduced the pressure of water in the mains and emptied the reservoir by the excessive use of water for motive power at the power station, and that when he had been cautioned by the county 'foreman to abstain from using the water for motive power on a recent occasion of breakage to the water race he had continued to use it in opposition to the instructions received, to the great inconvenience of other consumers and until the reservoir was- emptied. Had a fire broken out in the time during such period the consequents might have been serious. In connection with thii? complaint the report of the Electrical Committee was received setting out that they had carefully gone into the matters complained of, and were fully satisfied that the various charges made by the county clerk were not borne out by the facts as ascertained by them. The committee expressed complete confidence in the electrical engineer. The council adopted the report and decided to forward a copy to the County Council.
