SCHOONER ON FIRE.
THE JOHN A. CAMPBELL. A.' and N.Z. SYDNEY, Aug. 12. News received from Nauru Island reports that the four-masted schooner John A. Campbell was on fire. The vessel sailed from Brisbane on June 11 to load copra in the Gilbert Islands. Owing to there being no wireless station in the Gilbert group only meagre information is available. The John A. Campbell if! a wooden vessel of 545 gross tons. Her length is 161.2 ft., breadth 36.7 ft., and depth 12.8 ft. She is from the port of San Francisco, is owned by G. E. Billings, and was built in 1895.
