AUCKLAND ORPHANS' CLUB.

VISITORS FROM HAMILTON. The fortnightly gathering of the Auckland Orphans' Club was held in tho Scots Hall, Upper Symonds Street, on Saturday evening, and was largely attended. The president, Professor Maxwell Walker, presided. The guests included a large number of members -of t;ir Hamilton Orphans' Club. The Auckland Orphans' orchestra, under Mr. G. F. Cater, rendered the overture "Rosamunde" (Schubert), "A Motor - Ride" (Bidgood), and "Stars and Stripes" (Sousa). The rest of the programme was contributed by the Hamilton Orphans. Songs wero given by Messrs. H. Piper, A. Joll, C. Cooke, and N. Day; memory feats by Mr. E. H. Sharp; instrumental quintettes by Messrs. L. Swales, N. Harris, J. W. Wood, T. Y. Lusk, and C. Towsey: and humorous items bv Mr. C. H. Pullyn and W. Jordan. Messrs. H. Piper and Cyril Towsey were tho accompanists. Tho president accepted, on behalf of the club, from a. local iirnt of photographers, three sets of framed photographs of all the past presidents arid of the founder, Mr. J. Worrall, the present secretary, Air. J. Crawford, and the conductor of tho orchestra. A scene of enthusiasm ensued as the chairman, as the last elected president, shook hands with the first president., Mr. T. Henderson, who occupied that office from .1892 till 1894, and again in 1897 and 1898. Tho Hamilton visitors were taken for a drive around Auckland yesterday by the Auckland Orphans' officials, and thoroughly enjoyed the outing.
