The rainfall in Auckland during July, j as recorded in Albert Park by the officio! observer, Mr. F. A. F. Burnett, was only 1.69 in., as against 3.42 in. in July, 1921. and an average of 5.10 in. Rain fell or 21 days, but on 10 of these days the gauge registered only one point, or the hundreth part of an inch. The highestdaily fall wes 29 points, for the 24 hours ended 9 a.in. on July 12. In July of last year, when the fall wa« so much greater, rain fell on 22 days. Last month was the une&fc July since 1911, when the fall in the seventh month was 1.63. The lowest total ever regiotered in thin month was that of 1.34 in. in July, 1877, or 35 points less than the fall for tho month just ended. The highest total recorded for July was that of 9.59 m. in 1917. The exceptional dryness of the present winter is demonstrated by the fact that the total rainfall for June and July was only 4.48 m., as against 10.27 in. for th« corresponding months of last year, and an average of 0.84 in. This year has supplied the driest June for nine years, as well as the driest July for eleven years. The total rainfall for the praant year to date is 29in. This is well above the average of the first seven months of the year which Is about 26.15 in. The total for the first seven months of 1921 was 21.35 in., or 7.65 in. less than for thia years period. In 1920 the total for the seven months reached 37.3Hn. The full year's average is about 45.71 in.
