Dr. Cilento, Commonwealth medical officer for tropical hygiene, has returned after an absence of two years spent in studying methods for the prevention and euro ot tropical diseases. He has made i close investigations in New Guinea, ant) ; the resells, he says, emphasises the fact; that whites can live and thrive in the tropics if they readjust their ideas abouft diet and clothing. Conformity to correct j tropical hygiene would mean that Austra- j lians could administer New Guinea in i comfort and with efficiency. The greatest j problem there, says Dr. Cilento, is to J save the native race, which is fast dying I nut.
